Mary Jones, the prominent New York based artist, who has contributed three works to the Alba Amicorum collection, currently has a piece on show in The Last Brucennial. Established in 2008 as an alternative biennial, this New York exhibition has gained cult status within the city’s thriving art scene, and beyond, showing works ranging in value from $5 to more than $100,000 from artists known and unknown. This final instalment was dedicated to works exclusively by women. Mary Jones’ ‘Stone Stack’, is featured alongside pieces from over 600 female artists including Tracey Emin’s neon sign, ‘Trust Yourself’ and Hannah Linden’s Pussy Riot balaclava.Photo credit: #FFFFFF Walls.

The three pieces by Mary Jones exclusively available within the Alba Amicorum collection offer stunning insight into her work. The fluid and abstract watercolour composition ‘Before the Road’, with its seascape palette of greens and blues, sits in striking contrast to ‘Microcosm’ which employs a complex array of colour and dense textural style. ‘We’ll Float By’ exhibits Mary’s signature gestural and playful style, reminiscent of New York street art, with the whimsical watercolours scene of mermaids donning sunglasses and pearls.
